JULY 2011
How long does non-priority mail take to arrive from the USA? I've been waiting for sample chips for weeks now, and nothing arrives. I can't hassle the company, because they're being nice enough already in sending them. They're for a new pedal idea that I'm trying to finish, and meanwhile the other new ideas have all stalled...
Got to keep coming up with things.
I'm waiting for a big batch of DrFF-3 boxes to arrive too, which it'll be good to get stuck into.
Lots of waiting around at the moment...
Started a new Rainger FX blog.
APRIL 2011
Have you seen the blog?
Also got interesting story on us at shoestringventure.com
Special offer of cheap El Distorto on facebook page
Not sure if you've seen the Rainger FX channel on youtube
March 2011
Finally we have a Youtube channel! There's a 'using it' videoclip up for the Compactotron C-2, where you can see and hear it in full effect. Clips for the others are coming soon...
Also see our Facebook page! It'll be interaction central - with updates about stuff going on/coming up.
Hi to prymaxevintage in the USA - nice to be working with you!
With production for the Dr Freakenstein Fuzz and new Compactotron really coming together, I'm investigating new project ideas - big and small, but all with the Rainger FX originality you're thirsting for...
January 2011
Have just added a new distributor in France - Essor Diffusion.
Great to get the Dr Freakenstein Fuzz DrFF-2 and Compactotron C-2 on line at last.
Also I've been going to Hackspace in Hoxton, London to drill and get advice. It's an amazing place, going from strength to strength as more and more people get into carving up their old VCRs etc. Check them out - there might well be a branch in your town too.
November 2010
Pleased to be dealing with Mark at Stomp That Box in the USA, and Sebastian at These Go To 11 in Sweden. Working hard on some big pedal updates-
Lots of hot glue-gun going on-
Trying not to be obsessed with these LED billboards you see around everywhere...
August 2010
Finished the Rainger FX film/advert which is on videos page. Involves plenty of torture, electrocution, and generally unreasonable behaviour...
It features all the pedals in the current range, the soundtrack of course recorded using them.
July 2010
Very pleased to be with MATAMP distribution for North America, who work with a whole bunch of cool products.
Got very overdue website overhall...
June 2010
The Compactotron is available. Starting work on the Reactor Drive - the world's first upside-down distortion pedal.
Things take a while when you're doing something new...
May 2010
Working on the first two Compactotrons; it's another lo-pass unit - a kind of stripped down KIL Switch, and in footswitchable format. Full page on it coming very soon.
New ideas for a new type of distortion pedal.
And do have a look at the new myspace page
1st January 2010
Hope you've all had a great christmas and new year! We're looking forward to bringing you even more new pedals in 2010...
25th November 2009
I've updated the KIL Switch page with proper text and photos, and audioclips (and more actual units) will be available very soon - thanks for your patience!
Nice review of El Distorto and Dr Freakenstein Fuzz in Sound On Sound magazine this month, though Dr Freak was described as 'barking mad, the product of a seriously disturbed mind'. Hmmm...
Just about ready to film the Rainger FX ad - where you can see (and hear of course) El Distorto, Dr Freakenstein Fuzz, and - yes - the KIL Switch in full effect. It'll be up here somewhere soon.
1st July 2009
Exciting developments with the KIL Switch - I'll try not to get too carried away, and just finish the thing.
Meanwhile orders are growing for El Distorto and Dr Freakenstein including one of each for John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Busy time!
1st June 2009
The first batches of Dr Freakenstein (& Igor) and el Distorto's were finished and delivered to Music Ground's London shop in Denmark Street on Saturday, and now everything's gone nuts! Please be patient - the next lot are under way...
Really pleased to be with Music Ground - (manager Leon's a top guy!)
8th May 2009
At last the KIL Switch is in full production... It's such a cool pedal, we're so pleased with it. Doing some audio samples this weekend.
Hold on - will be with you quite soon.
25th April 2009
Just sorting out the modifications to the KIL Switch; it should be a really exciting pedal, and quite unique - a little like a triggered compressor.
Also putting in a big order with component suppliers... Next week is Building Week.
17th April 2009
This website came online! Very excited about it. A nice distraction while I try and get my head round op-amps.
Thanks to Fong Electronic for the amazing Sonic Eye - which I photographed for lots of these page backgrounds - and of course big thanks to Jyl for building the site.
I've nearly finished the first batch of pedals. It's really hard work - and I'm sure it's only going to get tougher! But serious fun all the same.
Will let you know progress as it happens... |
