MIKU love!
Why is guitar feedback so brilliant? Of course it’s because of the sheer rockstar energy it embodies, the extrapolation of a note or chord… but it also grows, develops into something that we didn’t realise we intended all along. It’s guitar sustain beyond our wildest dreams. It seems alive, it’s actual non-human communication from the other side…
And we do want that communication from the other side! For one thing, they seem to be having way more fun than we do here. The Korg Miku Stomp pedal has been sent to us from this other universe; it’s a lump of moon rock brought back from that world. It’s ectoplasm, bursting through the impermeable membrane separating us and them. And it’s here to communicate with us.

Sure, it’s been programmed to sing the words taken from a song that Miku herself sings in our world here. But this is just the vehicle that Miku’s true message is carried on. Play a note and slide your finger up and down the string and all the little notes trigger another syllable - which tumble out in a semi-random sing-song phrase of up-down melody.
And of course it’s our job, as human beings, to find meaning within these new words, this speaking-in-tongues. I now have a track I’ve been working on called ‘Avocado Zhivago’. The Korg Miku Stomp - together with humans to translate it - produces new information for us.
On top of this, if you play a long, winding guitar melody, you get herself singing that melody with the programmed lyrics (which include lines about cherry blossom - and who wouldn’t want those lyrics in a song?), which is pretty amazing too!
Sure, there’s latency you can almost measure with the second hand of a clock - but I’ve known a few human singers with timing like that…
