DESCRIPTION
The Recycle Box is an analog distortion pedal, with momentary digital delay built-in. Coming after the distortion section, this is a pad-switchable digital delay with a ton of attitude!

Distortion
The distortion circuit is the same as in our Break Box pedal - which itself is based on our favourite overdrive circuit (using silicon diodes), combined with the back half of the distortion circuit from our Tonebender collaboration with Colorsound - the Freakenbender, from a while back.

The ‘gain’ knob goes from a gentle crunch through to a very chunky, full-range distortion. A tight, heavy, analog grind, tons of easy harmonics possible.

With a see-sawing tonebender-style ‘tone’ control - after the distortion circuit - it’s a big sound, and very satisfying to play.

Delay
Lean on the pad to switch in the digital delay - it’s designed to be kind of rattle-y, edgy and in-your-face! It’s a triple-tap delay, the repeats set at slightly odd times - relative to each other, to give it more character.

And it’s mixed loud, the first repeat fixed at nearly unity compared to the original signal. It’s a hard digital echo, prone to over-oscillating... Drones, crescendos, bongs, edits, machine-like chopping… sounding like you momentarily tapped into a parallel world of echo chaos!

At times the repeats seem to be…. more cinematic somehow? (No audio filters involved).

And often dramatically building - rather than gently repeating. Or sometimes crumbling into reverb…

There’s a ‘feedback’ control pot - going from one repeat, to run-away oscillations - and a ‘time’ pot which adjusts the delay’s repeat length, up to a maximum of about 770msecs..

The Pad
Take your foot off the big rubber pad and the echo snaps off. The pad is a momentary switch; no-press is dry, top-drawer distortion, press - and you get that with added delay.

Or switch the ‘PAD flip’ button to reverse the action, for a latched delay effect.

The Enclosure
The asymmetric enclosure is re-purposed from our last Break Box pedal production run - hence the name! A vinyl label re-assigns the control functions.

The Recycle Box is not a shy pedal! It’s an edgy, purpose-built all-in-one multi-effects unit. It’s true bypass, designed to give echo accents to a big distorted guitar sound.
